The Cardiothoracic Surgery Interest Group is a student-led organization dedicated to fostering interest and exposure to the field of cardiothoracic surgery among medical students.
Founded recently with the partnership of the surgeons in AHEPA hospital, the group aims to connect students with mentors, facilitate hands-on experiences, and host educational events such as surgical workshops, guest speaker panels, and residency preparation sessions. Our goals include increasing awareness of the career pathways in cardiothoracic surgery, supporting student research initiatives, and nurturing skills required for a strong community of future cardiothoracic surgeons through collaboration and mentorship. The group leaders have already been coordinating surgical observations on most days as well as suturing workshops for the members, with many more activities to come!
