The Orthopedic Surgery Interest Group at Aristotle University School of Medicine is a student-led initiative designed to promote early interest and engagement in the field of orthopedics and orthopedic surgery. Open to all medical students within the program, the group offers opportunities to explore musculoskeletal medicine through academic, clinical, and practical experiences.
Our goals include fostering a deeper understanding of orthopedics, connecting students with faculty mentors, and encouraging participation in relevant research and skills development.
Activities include:
- Hands-on workshops in basic orthopedic techniques such as casting, splinting, suturing, and fracture management
- Lectures and Q&A sessions with orthopedic surgeons and faculty members from affiliated hospitals such as the Interbalkan Hospital
- Guidance on research opportunities within the department and assistance with preparing abstracts and posters for national and international conferences
- Hospital visits and shadowing opportunities, when available, to provide students with real-world exposure to orthopedic practice
- Collaborations with other student groups and departments to broaden interdisciplinary learning
The group serves as a supportive space for students to explore career pathways in orthopedics, gain practical skills, and build lasting professional relationships. Whether you’re just beginning to consider surgical specialties or already passionate about orthopaedics, our community provides the resources to grow your interest into experience.
